  People need to avoid this place. Go to the smaller bakery/cafe down the road. It's a lot smaller and is cash only but the service and quality of food and coffee there deserve your money. This place - Petalura Eatery absolutely does not deserve your money. First off, the food and drink are over priced. And that's before you are charged multiple surcharges for everything the owner can think of. If you want to split a meal and it's peak time, you are charged an extra $5. If you are visiting at lunch time in the school holidays, you are charged 10%. EFTPOS minimum is $10 which I can understand but all cards are charged 2% no matter the card or the amount. This all stinks of a greedy owner that does not respect her customers. Before you add all these surcharges, the food is already over priced. That might be acceptable if it was good, but it's not. It's not terrible but it's not that great, and if you're charging $9.50 for a kids-sized nuggets and chips, then it's better be damn good. Not to mention, the owner is completely inflexible about going off menu or even ordering a serving of chips, which while not on the menu per se, they actually do have chips as they are on the kids menu. Instead of charging you for an adults serve, your request is simply refused. This brings me to the final nail in the hopeful eventual coffin of this establishment. The attitude of the staff, especially the owner. From the moment we arrived, we were rudely spoken to, in a condescending manner and were made to feel like we were not welcome. Even worse than being an unfortunate customer in Bernard Black's Black Books. I urge you not to spend your money or time on this pathetic cafe. It is the literal antonym of hospitality and if it were in any other location where it did not have an effective monopoly, it would not survive. Also, I see that many reviews going back years complain about similar things as myself. This was not a bad day for the owner or the cafe. It is part of what the cafe is and they obviously do not care to change.
